Lord of the Rhyoliths

August 24th, 2011

It was time for the third boss in The Firelands to bite the dust. The add gauntlet before the boss was – quite frankly – catastrophic. We may have to read up on that a little… The boss fight itself took a lot of time to get used to, how the leg turning mechanic worked (he seemed to sometimes react very slowly to our attempts to turn him around) and how we had to use the vulcanoes. And once we pushed him into the burn phase, all hell broke lose. We tried timing the phase shift so we could top people off with healing but alas, it did not want to happen the way we intended, so let’s just say that the kill was about 50% skill and 50% luck ;)

But, down he went, and that’s all that counts. A few more goes, and we will nail it!

As it turned out.. HE was the nuisance!

Good job, my luvlies!

R.I.P.limb, Shannox and Rageface!

August 18th, 2011

As we now have a gnome to sacrifice before trying out new bosses (for luck and raid buffs!) we managed to down Shannox and his lovely little doggies in only a few tries. Pretty fun fight, and very manageable. Tank debuffs and accidential pulling was our biggest issues, and we got that sorted soon enough. Well done, guys!

.. and he dropped hunter loot, of course!

Thanks to Alex for the witty title on this post ;)

Itsy bitsy spider…

August 3rd, 2011

Tabula Rasa now officially has a foothold in the Firelands, as we killed our first boss, Beth’ilac. As usual, just when the raid was supposed to be over, we had our FINAL try. We struggled a lot with the going up and down on the web, as we kept messing up; healer going up first, tank falling through holes, DPS coming up late, spiders being eaten once she goes down, and lack of mana for our healers. Interesting fight, definately. And a good change from the nerfed-in-the-ground tier 11 raids!

Also, our lovely Annalicious (Hisi) got her first Living Ember towards her Legendary staff :)

Down came the TR, and washed the spider out!

Good job :)

Defenders of a Shattered World

July 20th, 2011

After last night’s game of Mario, dodging weird tornadoes, ice patches and other horrible things, we are now Defenders of a Shattered World. Al’Akir finally fell last night, which means that we have cleared all the tier 11 content.

Hanging mid air feels a bit.. awkward..

In my personal opinion, the nerfbat probably hit the raids a wee bit too hard.. Maybe a progressive nerf (a la Icecrown) would have been a lot better – or at least adding the option to say no thanks and do the fights like they were meant to be. Downing a new boss after maybe 5 tries.. it just doesn’t feel that super epic (I still have very vivid memories of finally killing the Lich King after endless amounts of deaths). But, still nice to finish the raid tier, nonetheless. At least we got to see it all in a fairly timely manner!

Oh, and those new mounts are EPIC!

Pretty :D

Well worth the wait, these Phoenixes!

Well done, all!

It’s raining bosses, halleluhja!

July 14th, 2011

Busy week, busy week!

Tuesday we saw Occu’thar and Atramedes drop, wednesday we felled Nefarion and his build-a-dragon sister. Both days we also did a Firelands trash run, giving several of us new reputation cloaks. All in all, a very exciting week!

Next week? Al’Akir! Then we can finally try out the new Firelands bosses :)

Come out, come out, whereever you are!

What Atramedes lacked, this one has in abundance!

For the sake of all that is holy.. let that poor girl rest now!

Well done, my minions!

Cho’maeron downed!

July 7th, 2011

Wait.. I think I got the names mixed up! Cho’gall and Chimaeron .. much better :)

Following our great success on the Ascendant Council tuesday night, we went back to Bastion of Twilight and spanked Cho’gall around. In the meantime, we discovered that we had done it completely wrong on the first night (so getting him to 10% was probably just a mix of nerfs and pure luck!) – so we adjusted the tactics and we killed him in just a few tries. Our final kill was such a clean fight, that you’d think we’d done this for ages ;)

Ol' Eyeball blinked for the last time..

Afterwards, we ventured into Blackwing Descent, as we felt we had a score to settle with Chimaeron (grumble grumble). We blasted through Magmaw, the Defense System and Maloriak – even taking a few achivements on the way – and faced the ugly thing that is Chimaeron. Not surprisingly, he can easily still kill us, as the mechanics are the same. Especially as we lost a healer pretty early in the fight. But, we dusted ourselves off, and killed him with only 1 death in the second phase. Poor Nym..

Long overdue!

As always – great job!

The Ascendant Council downed!

July 6th, 2011

So, it’s no secret that all tier 11 content was severely hit by the nerfbat with the release of patch 4.2 – but as we still had a lot of bosses left to kill before venturing into Firelands, we spent last night focusing on Bastion of Twilight. We had already had a few goes at the Ascendant Council in the week before the patch, so we pretty much knew what to do in the fight. So we ended up one-shotting them yesterday. It was very obvious already on Halfus and the Twins, that the nerfs were quite extensive, and perhaps also a bit more than we had expected.

That said, it was still a nice kill! Good job, guildies!

All that's left after TR's visit was a belt buckle..

We had several tries on Cho’gall afterwards, and got him as far as 10% on our first night there – and without preparing tactics etc. I’m certain he will go down soon as well!

From Hell’s heart, we stabbed at thee!

June 1st, 2011

Despite of the fact that he drops no loot, we killed the whale shark last night.

This animal packs quite the bite, and it’s certain death to end up between his teeth, but that didn’t scare us off. The fatigue was a pain though xD

Masterful kiting by Kundarak, and then it wasn’t actually.. -that- bad.. :)

Dun dun dun du.. dead x.x

Sushi, anyone?

Tabula Rasa helps Valiona and Theralion relax

April 8th, 2011

Journal entry date:
April 7th 2011

Author(s):
Algorithmix

Patient(s):
Valiona (female twilight dragon)
Theralion (male twilight dragon)

Issue:
Sibling rivalry.

While therapy sessions with dragons are becoming more frequent, they are still quite rare. For that reason, when summoned to this particular pair of siblings, we decided that a 10 man team would be best suited. As is standard procedure when dealing with dragons, the therapists met with the patients at their own home.

The severity of the problems these two dragons are having was clearly evident withing a few moments after our arrival. As we neared their dwelling, the two were asked to find some place for us. Valiona and Theralion immediately started arguing over who should do it, and this soon degenerated into name calling. Theralion even went so far as to claim that he was their mothers favorite. Clearly we had much work to do.

Before we approached the patients it was decided that one of us (Laradan) would spearhead the initial contact, while the rest of the team would provide various kinds of support. When we first entered their room Valiona seemed most interested in dealing with us. Her brother, Theralion, immediately took off. Literally, as it were. This was to some extend expected: it is not uncommon for females to be more open for these kinds of talks. So we started to converse with Valiona. Slowly at first, but within a very short time both sides were freely exchanging thoughts and feelings. The patient responded well, though she had a tendency to target one of the therapists, forcing us to draw close to that person (Zahrah was tasked with providing primary support for this person). We also noticed that Theralion, while not directly part of the session, had not gone far, and quickly started sniping at us from a distance. This was encouraging, as it indicated that the siblings would defend each others against a third party.

After a few minutes of very encouraging progress Theralion had evidently warmed to the idea of dealing with us, and returned to the ground. Valiona took this opportunity to distance herself. Handling Theralion turned out to be very different from dealing with his sister, as instead of forming a supporting circle around her, we decided to group closer together so that we would not form such a threatening posture. This seemed to work very well, though as her brother, Valiona had not gone far, and we had to content with jabs, some of them hurtful, from her throughout the entire session. After a few more minutes of progress Theralion evidently grew frustrated, and again took to the air.

His sister evidently now thought it safe to return to our earlier engagement, having had some time to clear her mind. She was now much more calm, it it didn’t take long before we managed to calm her completely. Theralion, seeing how his sister was no longer a threat, also relaxed and came quickly to the ground. We consider this a tremendous success, and we look forward to our next session. In appreciation of our efforts, Valiona gifted us with one of her favorite trinkets, and Theralion gave us a necklace (his use of such a necklace may however be indicative of repressed feminine tendencies. This may explain his hatred for his sister, who is free to express such urges; we will have to consider this next time). We accepted both gifts with thanks, and departed the dragons dwelling.
